Volunteers are a vital component of Embrace Richmond. Our volunteers consist of a broad cross section of the Richmond metro community. From youth to senior adults, from suburban to urban congregations, from corporate executives to formerly homeless individuals, from large corporations to girl scout troupes; Embrace has volunteer opportunities for everyone.

How you can get involved

Host a Welcome Home Party to support the CARITAS Community Sharehouse

Collect furniture and household items for individuals exiting Richmond area homeless shelters through your congregation, business, civic group or neighborhood.

Participate in a House Blessing for a CARITAS Community Sharehouse Participant

On the second Sunday of each month, Embrace hosts a mini-missions experience for groups of adults, youth and children over the age of 10. The events run from 1:30-5:30pm. During the event your group will help a family select and move their furniture into their new home.

Join a Community Sharehouse Hospitality Team

Hospitality teams serve as personal shoppers, coordinate community lunch, and facilitate prayer activities for their service week. These teams consist of 4-6 individuals and each team serves quarterly.

Become an Encourager

Encouragers are individuals who commit to serve for 6 months providing emotional, spiritual, and relational support to a family or individual, transitioning out of homelessness. Through the Unity-Works program Encouragers learn about the issues facing formerly homeless individuals. Encouragers work in three different capacities: Community Peer Mentors, Career Mentors, and Family Encourager Teams members.
